Matthew McIntosh
Dr. Matthew McIntosh is a postdoctoral researcher at the Jornada Experimental Range. Matt is currently investigating grazing behavior, production, phenotype, and animal-plant interactions of conventional and heritage cattle biotypes and their impact on southwestern rangelands as well as climate-change and stocking rate effects on native plant communities. Matt is also developing an indicator system to track management goals against predefined sustainability benchmarks. Additionally, he is helping develop real-time animal tracking tools for precision ranching applications. Adjacent to his research endeavors, Matt is interested in the intersection of art and science and has developed a portfolio of scientific illustrations related to his fields of expertise. Many of the graphics used throughout this website and on Sustainable Southwest Beef Project publications and outreach materials are Matt’s creations.
